What to see and do in Woodgate?

Youd be surprised how much there is to see and do in and around Woodgate Beach, pristine 16 kilometers of white sandy beach from Theodolite Creek to Walkers Point.

Cast a line off the beach or riverbank, or launch your boat from one of the boat ramps (the fishing is great)! Swim all year round or cycle the bike track along the foreshore providing an easy ride over flat picturesque terrain. Woodgate Beach is protected by Fraser Island so it has calm waters for sailing, sail boarding and kayaking. Tennis courts available for hire, a game of lawn bowls on the greens or four wheel drive through the national park.

For those interested in bird watching and native plants, the Woodgate National Park, adjacent to Woodgate Beach  Tourist Park offers access to two walking tracks The Boardwalk and The Banksia track.

The Boardwalk (800m return) has wheelchair access and enables visitors to take a short excursion through melaleuca (teatree) wetlands.

The Banksia Track (5.2klm return) passes through melaleuca (teatree) wetlands open forest into Livistonia decipiens palm forest and finally through a wallum heath plain where wildflowers bloom between August and October. Timing a visit to see the wildflowers is very rewarding for photographers, birdwatchers and those interested in native plants.

Walkers Point - picnic area is also wheelchair accessible with paved areas, tables, walking track and beach access, there are several tracks.

Melaleuca track (12.3km return) passes through wallum vegetation and around saltpans, wetlands and mangroves. Birds are abundant near wetlands and mangroves in the early morning. Access is via Walkers Point picnic area.
